Short Film 'Softer,' Sponsored by Shannon Fabrics’ Premieres at Wondercon 2024

Wondercon 2024, an annual comic book, science fiction, and film convention held in Anaheim, California, drew in thousands of enthusiasts from all over. Among them was Shannon Fabrics’ very own in-house videographer, Jeremy Camp, who illuminated audiences with the release of his heartfelt short film, "Softer." 

Originally filmed as part of a marketing campaign to highlight Shannon Fabrics’ exceptional materials, "Softer" transcended its initial purpose, capturing the attention of numerous film festivals. It graced prestigious events such as the LA Children's Film Fest, Miami Children's Film Fest, The California Children's Film Festival, The Inland Film Fest, Issaquah Film Fest, and the Atlanta Film Fest, leaving an indelible mark on each audience it touched. 

"Softer" is the story of a young boy named Henry whose best friend, Mattie, suddenly moves away. Growing up in a household with busy, absent parents and no other neighborhood kids his age, he is left with only memories of when he and Mattie would play with their toy robot. One day, while walking in the woods, his beloved robot mysteriously vanishes. What happens next? Does Henry ever find the robot? Scroll down and watch the short film to find out.

"Softer" was a labor of love that came together through family bonds. Between the actors' families, Jeremy's own family and the Shannon Fabrics family, everyone involved poured their hearts into this film. Their collective effort was palpable, resonating deeply with audiences at the LA Children's Film Festival, showing at Wondercon 2024.

Jeremy's role as in-house videographer at Shannon Family intersected with his own passions of telling stories; he spearheaded this project  merging his years of filmmaking expertise with Shannon Fabrics' mission statement. He took this project on as something very near and dear to his heart; infusing his own life experience into the film. Some of the "Softer" locations like the woods and the creek were places the writer/director used to grow up playing in as a boy growing up in Greenville, South Carolina. Co-written with his close friend Michael Meza, "Softer" breathes authenticity, drawing from personal experiences and genuine connections.

Wondercon 2024 served as the perfect platform for "Softer" to shine, resonating with attendees who marveled at its heartfelt storytelling and evocative imagery.
