Ollie Bomber Jacket in Luxe Cuddle® Fawn!

Ollie Bomber Jacket in Luxe Cuddle® Fawn!

Hi there! Rachel here again, I’m one of the Shannon Fabrics Brand Ambassadors and can’t wait to show you another pdf pattern that got the Luxe Cuddle® treatment.

Shannon Fabrics Luxe Cuddle Fawn Ollie bomber Jacket

I’ve had the Ollie Bomber Jacket pattern from Sew a Little Seam since it released last year, but never got around to actually finishing one. I knew it would be the perfect match for one of our Luxe Cuddle® fabrics, and this Luxe Cuddle® Fawn Cappuccino has been begging to be made into something special. We live on a property in NJ that is adjacent to a large forest area, and deer are a daily sighting here (along with turkeys, groundhogs, and the occasional fox). Miss P asked me to make her a deer jacket, and after I had her promise not to go wandering in the woods in this one ;) I prepped my pattern and got to work.

The Ollie pattern includes directions for a lined and an unlined version, and since I wanted this to be a lightweight layer that Miss P could wear on chilly mornings, I left it unlined. This made it a super fast sew, too! The backing of the Luxe Cuddle® is thick and smooth, so it makes a great inside of the jacket. I used a small piece of single fold bias tape for the neckline seam, and stabilized the collar with a small piece of knit interfacing. I used a separating sport zipper since I wanted the zipper to be a little more substantial with all of the Luxe Cuddle fabric, and it worked great. I topstitched the zipper in place and then just pulled some of the longer fibers from the seamline - Luxe Cuddle® is very forgiving and will hide your stitches so just sew slowly and lengthen your stitch a bit (I use about a 4mm length to topstitch on Cuddle®) to avoid needing to seam rip anything!

This was a quick project with big results. The fit is perfect and Miss P feels cozy, warm, and stylish. The pattern also comes in women’s sizes so I’ll be making one for myself next - as soon as I pick my favorite Luxe Cuddle® to use!

Kelly Ballou, the designer behind Sew a Little Seam, has generously offered a copy of the PDF Ollie Bomber jacket pattern for one lucky winner. Just comment below with which Shannon Fabrics Cuddle® or Luxe Cuddle® you’d use to make an Ollie Bomber Jacket, and one comment will be chosen by random.org on June 18, 2018. Thanks for a fantastic pattern, and for your generosity, Kelly!
