This classic winter accessory gets a new look with the Sallie Tomato “Muffy” pattern and after hearing numerous requests for a tutorial, we’ve decided to tackle this one. Join our national educator, Teresa Coates, on Sew Together Tuesday this week for some insights on working with some alternative fabrics and different sewing techniques.
The Muffy pattern is made with Luxe Cuddle for that soft, luxurious, and warm feel on the inside, then combining it with either cork or faux leather for the outside. If you haven’t worked with either of these two fabrics before, you’ll definitely want to join in as Teresa shows some tips on making it simple.
This project is a perfect one to try your hand at one of our denser fabrics, such as Luxe Cuddle® Arctic Fox, Luxe Cuddle® Arctic Chinchilla, or Luxe Cuddle® Frosted Baby Seal. Join us to learn some techniques that will help you combine these fabrics that need to be pin with cork and/or leather, two fabrics that can’t be pinned. It is possible and you might be surprised at some of the techniques (including a new product from our friends at ODIF).
You can find Sallie Tomato patterns, fabrics and hardware in many local quilt shops. Her collection of bag patterns are popular among sewists and a number of her bags recommend using Cuddle® fabrics, so check them out!
