Chunky Knit Cuddle® Blanket

Written by Ellen Mickelson | Apr 10, 2018 8:08:33 PM

Have you seen those big chunky knit blankets?! People are calling them "big knit." Today we’re sharing how you can make your own! We have a really fun video tutorial and Free PDF pattern for a “Chunky Knit Cuddle® Blanket.” But… there are no knitting needles required and it’s not really made by knitting!

Jenny Doan of Missouri Star Quilt Company and her daughter, Natalie created this unique and trendy baby blanket made with Cuddle® fabric. It’s modeled after those popular big chunky knit blankets but it’s not created using knitting needles. Jenny and Natalie make it by “knitting” (or crocheting) using only their hands. They treat the strips from Cuddle® as if they were yarn. How fun is that?!

The blanket finishes 40” x 52”, but you could easily modify it for different sizes too.

There are so many Cuddle® fabrics you could use to create this blanket.

Jenny suggests Cuddle® 3 solids and double sided Cloud Spa Cuddle® .

For this blanket, Jenny used Solid Cuddle® 3 Paris Pink.

She made another blanket using Cloud Spa Cuddle® Snow

And, she made a fun stripy version with Solid Cuddle® 3 Aruba, Solid Cuddle® 3 Jade, and Solid Cuddle® 3 Snow White

Use your imagination and choose your favorite colors to make the blanket your own. You can even use Cuddle® scraps.

A few words of caution, this blanket should not be laid on top of babies due to its weight and never leave your baby unattended while playing on this blanket.

If you make this blanket, please share images using the hashtag #chunkyknitcuddleblanket. We’d love to see your creations!
