Embrace Summer Nightgown

Hi Everyone,

I’m Lorine Mason from It’s Sew Lorine  I recently had the pleasure to work with Shannon Fabrics wonderful Embrace® double gauze fabric. I thought it would be perfect for a summer nightgown for a dear friend, and I think it turned out beautifully.

To sew this pretty summer nightgown, I selected Embrace double gauze 100% cotton in Premier Dandelion Embrace Coral by Premier Prints.

Embrace fabric is very light and airy which was perfect but I needed structure when it came to cutting and sewing the yoke pieces for the nightgown. I found my answer through a product called Soften, a fusible interfacing from Fairfield World. The Embrace fabric retained its softness and fluidity even after fusing Soften to the reverse side.

For more details on the nightgown, as well as some helpful hints and a quick tutorial on French Seams, check out my post over on Fairfield World Projects.

I would like to suggest Butterick pattern B6838 Misses'/Misses' Petite Diamond-Neck Nightgowns as an alternative to the pattern I suggested on my original blog post for Fairfield. The pattern I noted within the instructions has since been discontinued.

You can find Shannon Fabrics at local quilt shops and fabric stores, and online at fabric.comtheminkyboutique.com, and fabricdepot.com. You can also view their Store Locator to find more shops.
