Happy holidays to all of you and yours! I’m Naomi Stewart, a Cuddle® Ambassador from Montana.
On this day, we are making a quillow from the luscious cloud cuddle. Quillows (quilt/pillow) were popular in the 1990’s. Shannon Fabric has had a free pattern for Quillow made from two pieces of Luxe cuddle. Free Luxe Cuddle Quillow pattern.
To make it a fast and easy gift, I updated the pattern by using the soft double-sided cuddle we call ‘Cloud’. I only used one layer of cuddle, as opposed to two layers in the original pattern. Because of less fabric, I decreased the size of the pocket. I also needed to add binding to finish it off.
I made this gift for my 10 village women (my close-knit ride or die gal pals) for birthday gifts this year. I thought it would be a great pillow/throw to keep in your car. Plus, it’s a gift for all ages. Even in warmer climates, it would be nice to have a pillow or a light throw to keep you warm from too much conditioned air.
Today I made one from start to finish while taking pictures and filming, it still only took me about 2 hours. If you have an afternoon, you can make one today! I also made a smaller version with baby print using satin binding. So cute and a very fast baby gift.
The alterations I made to the original pattern are:
Make sure your cloud cuddle is cut evenly. Then to make the binding easier, I rounded the corners. I love to use the creative grids round up tool. You just lay it matching the two side edges of the throw, as illustrated below and cut. Do this for all four corners now…easy peasy.
I think your friends, family and even enemies would enjoy this gift (after all it is the giving season). May you have a joyous holiday season and may your friends find much comfort in cuddle.
