Like throw blankets or scarves, making tote bags out of Cuddle® minky plush fabric has been a go-to sewing project for Cuddle® enthusiasts for a long time!

We’re always looking for inspiration, so when we noticed several pictures of tote bags in our I Love Cuddle® Fabric! group on Facebook, it got us thinking — what a perfect idea for a Sew Together Tuesday tutorial!

This week we’ve done just that — Teresa not only shares her tips for creating a tote bag out of Cuddle®, including recommended fabrics and notions, but she’s also put together a FREE tote bag pattern that can be downloaded and printed out at home.

Fabrics, notions and supplies you’ll need to sew a Cuddle® minky fabric tote bag

These products and fabrics can be substituted for whatever you have on hand, but here is what Teresa recommends for her tote bag tutorial:

Fabrics: 

• 1/4 yd. Digital Cuddle® T-Rex Bellflower
• 1/4 yd. Cuddle® 3 Breeze
• 6” x 13” scrap of stabilizer (Soft and Stable - ByAnnie)
• 1 yd. woven fusible interfacing (SF101 Shape-Flex - Pellon)

Notions: 

• 45mm rotary cutter - OLFA or blade (SAC-1 - OLFA)
• 90/14 stretch machine needle - SCHMETZ
• Fabric clips - (Wonder Clips - Clover)
• Felt tip marker
• Flower head pins - Clover
• Micro serrated scissors - Famore
• Polyester thread - (Metrosene - Mettler)
• Self-healing cutting mat - OLFA
• Stiletto and pressing tool - ByAnnie
• Walking Foot
