Video: How to Make a Hooded or Cowl Neck Poncho with Cuddle® Minky Plush Fabric

This week, for the next episode of Sew Together Tuesday, our National Educator Teresa Coates is tackling a project for apparel sewists (and aspiring apparel sewists)!

She's featuring the 90-Minute Poncho pattern by Mary Mulari Designs, and like most projects featured in this series, it can be customized to your heart’s content. It looks great with or without a front pocket, lined or unlined and can feature a cowl or hood.

A Cuddle® poncho isn’t just cozy at home — it’s great for everything for staying warm while out at sporting events, to chilly nights camping or out on the porch. Making a poncho is easier than it looks, as it’s just one piece of fabric and no seaming necessary.

These products can be substituted for whatever you have on hand, but here is what Teresa recommends for her poncho tutorial:

• 2 ½ yds. Luxe Cuddle®
• ¼ yd. Luxe Cuddle® (cowl)
• ¼ yd. Luxe Cuddle®

Notions:

• 90/14 Stretch needle (SCHMETZ)
• Polyester thread (Mettler Metrosene)
• Felt tip marker
• 45mm rotary cutter and mat (OLFA)
• Microserrated scissors (Karen Kay Buckley, Famore or KAI)
• Long, flower head pins (Clover)
• Fabric clips (Clover)
• Stiletto (ByAnnie)
• Walking foot
