Affectionately named Cupcake Fabrics & Quilts, this family owned and operated small business has all the ingredients for your sewing, quilting and crafting recipes! With humble roots as a longarm quilting business, they've since grown to become a full-service quilt and fabric shop — even opening a second location in the Houston area.

SF: What’s the history of Cupcake Fabrics & Quilts?

CF&Q: Cupcake Quilts is about bringing my love of all things fabric to life! 

I started, initially, as a longarm quilting business, and that portion continues. However, I am pleased that the business has evolved to providing exceptional lines of high-quality fabrics from leading collections, as well as patterns and notions to customers around the world who share my passion!

SF: How has your shop evolved over the years?

CF&Q: We have grown in size and product by listening to our customers’ needs! 

SF: Tell us one thing people might not know about your shop.

CF&Q: We are a family run, multi-generational shop.

SF: What’s your shop’s motto or tagline?

CF&Q: Where life is sweet!

SF: Describe your shop’s aesthetic in five words or less.

CF&Q: Welcoming, kind, bright, trendy and fun!

SF: What’s unique about your shop?

CF&Q: We have two stores with a wide variety of niches. You can rent a longarm, join a class or participate in our $2 Tuesday community open sews!  

SF: What is your best-selling Shannon Fabrics product?

CF&Q: Solid Cuddle® backing is where it's at!

SF: Do you sell online?

CF&Q: We do sell online, here. Our online store has been active for 10 years. The key to selling online is to provide an experience while shopping with products that are available to ship in a wide variety of niches.

SF: What top projects are on the must-make list right now in your shop?

CF&Q: We have multiple shows coming up in the near future, so our staff is focused on making kits. In addition to this, collage quilting has really caught a spark and foundation paper piecing is on deck to prepare the community for our upcoming block of the month!

SF: What do you love most about creating (or seeing customers create) DIY projects with the fabrics you sell?

CF&Q: We love to see the unique ways our customers construct their projects, and how one pattern can take on many different styles by changing out colorways and embellishments.

SF: What current quilting, sewing or crafting trends inspires you? Where do you get your inspiration?

CF&Q: Our inspiration comes from our wonderful customers. They are so full of ideas, tips, tricks and techniques.  One would think the owner of the quilt store would know all, but our community is full of master crafters! 

SF: What’s next for Cupcake Fabrics & Quilts?

CF&Q: We hope to increase our Facebook LIVE selling presence with more opportunities for the community to buy the latest and greatest machines, fabric and notions. It’s always in the forefront of our minds to maintain our standards of excellence throughout all platforms in order to present a unified experience no matter how you choose to shop Cupcake Quilts.
