6 Weeks of Softies & Spectacular Softy Plush Giveaway

Who can remember their favorite softy? Mine was a small white kitten covered in the softest, silkiest faux fur -with a tiny pale pink nose and shiny green plastic eyes. Oh, how I treasured her! Today I still love anything soft and plush. And… I’m lucky- I get to touch something soft and lovely every day in my work for Shannon Fabrics. Since we are known for soft and plush, Sew Mama Sew suggested we team up with them and some of the top softy makers to sponsor the Spectacular Softies Contest.

The contest is part of a series, 6 Weeks of Love for Softies, which will include tutorials, free patterns, and lots of tips from some of the very best plush, stuffed animal, and cloth doll makers in the business!

Each participant can enter their project into two of the categories. The winner of each category will receive a package with fabric, gift certificates, thread, patterns, POLY-FIL, and books. In addition to the 4 category prizes, the judges will select one Grand Prize Winner from among all the entries to win a Pfaff Creative 3.0 sewing and embroidery machine valued at $3,999! The contest runs February 23- April 5. Throughout the 6 weeks, there will be a few giveaways on the Sew Mama Sew blog and Facebook page from some of these sponsors.

Finally, as part of 6 Weeks of Love for Softies, Sew Mama Sew is having a Soft Toy & Doll Drive. They will be collecting soft toys, stuffed animals, and cloth dolls to benefit foster children. The National Foster Parent Association has a convention in June, at which they will distribute the toys to children in attendance, as well as foster parents to take home to the children in their care. Additionally, they will be helping to promote Dolly Donations, an ongoing doll drive sponsored by Sarah of Dolls & Daydreams. The dolls collected in this drive benefit The Uthando Project, an organization that distributes dolls to children in KwaZulu Natal in South Africa, an area deeply affected by the impact of HIV/AIDS.
